Verbal Varieties of Inverse Semigroups

چکیده
A verbal product is introduced for a particular class of varieties of inverse semigroups and this product is shown to be associative. As well, the structure of this class is examined. 1980 Mathematics subject classification (Amer. Math. Soc.): 20 M 05.

Free Objects in Certain Varieties of Inverse Semigroups
In this paper it is shown how the graphical methods developed by Stephen for analyzing inverse semigroup presentations may be used to study varieties of inverse semigroups. In particular, these methods may be used to solve the word problem for the free objects in the variety of inverse semigroups generated by the five-element combinatorial Brandt semigroup and in the variety of inverse semigrou...
متن کاملTrifree Objects in E-Varieties of Locally E-Solid Semigroups
We construct a modification of Churchill and Trotter’s trifree objects in e-varieties of locally E-solid semigroups, which have the property, for e-varieties of locally inverse semigroups and for e-varieties of Esolid semigroups, of being isomorphic to the bifree objects.
متن کاملSemidirect Products of Regular Semigroups
Within the usual semidirect product S ∗ T of regular semigroups S and T lies the set Reg (S ∗ T ) of its regular elements. Whenever S or T is completely simple, Reg (S ∗T ) is a (regular) subsemigroup. It is this ‘product’ that is the theme of the paper. It is best studied within the framework of existence (or e-) varieties of regular semigroups. Given two such classes, U and V, the e-variety U...
متن کاملOn Lattices of Varieties of Restriction Semigroups
The left restriction semigroups have arisen in a number of contexts, one being as the abstract characterization of semigroups of partial maps, another as the ‘weakly left E-ample’ semigroups of the ‘York school’, and, more recently as a variety of unary semigroups defined by a set of simple identities. We initiate a study of the lattice of varieties of such semigroups and, in parallel, of their...
متن کاملThe Semigroups B2 and B0 are Inherently nonfinitely Based, as restriction Semigroups
The five-element Brandt semigroup B2 and its four-element subsemigroup B0, obtained by omitting one nonidempotent, have played key roles in the study of varieties of semigroups. Regarded in that fashion, they have long been known to be finitely based. The semigroup B2 carries the natural structure of an inverse semigroup. Regarded as such, in the signature {·,−1 }, it is also finitely based. It...
